Country: Panama Habitat: Terrain mostly steep. Soil red clay, pH c. 7.0. Rainfall c. 4000mm p.a.; dry season December to April. Forest canopy continuous at 25m, with buttressed emergents to 45m, and c. 200 woody species per hectare. Understorey strikingly rich in palms.
Location: Comarca de San Blas. Evergreen lowland seasonal rainforest on the Aila Tiwar (Rio Acla). Plant Description: Small palm, on semi-erect stem 1cm diameter, 30cm high, with irregular geniculations 1-5cm apart. Fronds 7, 150-175cm long. Pinnae 6, apex fishtail.
