Country: Madagascar Habitat: Very common in secondary regrowth from Tamatave to Brickaville and up to c. 500 m altitude.
Location: Toamasina (Tamatave) 10 km west of Brickaville (Ampasimanolotra) on the road to Antananarivo. E Madagascar, Plant Description: Inflorescences large terminal and axillary compound 'panicles'. Main stem with large, cordate, acute, reddish caducous bracts. Flower heads in groups of 1-5, subtended by a gland, each head with a short peduncle and c. 22-26 flowers, the central 1 (or 2)
