Country: Mexico Habitat: Abundant understorey shrub in dry mattoral on thin black soils over calcareous bedrock with Juniperus, Leucaena esculenta, Calliandropsis nervosus, Acacia subangulata, Dalea, Aeschynomene, Calliandra and many Cactaceae.
Location: Puebla Caltepec Santiago Acatepec, 5 km ENE, close to main Tehuacan-Huajuapan de Leon road, Hwy 125, about 18 km SW of Zapotitlan Salinas. Plant Description: Small rounded shrub with contorted branching forming a dense clump to 0.5 m ht. Bark smooth, mid to dark grey, inner bark green, the wood very hard.
